Hungarian LSE Alumni Christmas Dinner

Hungarian LSE Alumni Christmas Dinner

On 21st December 2013, the Hungarian LSE Alumni Association held its inaugural Christmas Dinner. Although we did not have any festive dinners beforehand, now we are positive as an Alumni Association that this is going to be a tradition we will practice every year. We have purposefully chosen the date so that students currently studying at the LSE and returning home for the holidays can attend as well.

Fortunately many of them took up this opportunity, and complemented with alumni members, a bunch of us have gathered for the Christmas Dinner at Centrál Kávéház. The dinner not only gave us an opportunity to celebrate together in the festive time but also gave us the chance to reflect on what the Alumni Association has done over the year, which was quite busy with programmes.

One of the most notable events for the group, as Szabolcs Vagvolgyi (Communications Officer) recalled, was the Budapest Marathon, where four brave alumni members successfully completed the 42 km in relay. In accordance to the holiday spirit, besides the discussions we have set aside some time for a fun game. Over the years, LSE has produced many notable members of alumni, and the Christmas Dinner gave us the chance to see whether Hungarian Alumni members could recognise their famous counterparts from pictures taken while they were studying at the school.

The ultimate champion of this graphic quiz turned to be our Events Officer, Miklos Gaál, who successfully recognized even the fictional members of alumni, notably Jim Hacker from the Yes, Prime Minister TV-series.
